Forever Africa Conference and Events (FACE) is a Pan-African collective, established in 2017 and brought together by staff and students at the University of Bristol. Our focus is to creatively engage with knowledge for, by and of African and African-descended people.

We want to together imagine and craft radical flourishing futures. Therefore, FACE’s vision is to build solidarity and action within and beyond academia for African and African descended people. This vision thus extends beyond discipline, beyond institution, beyond nation-state.

In fact, beyond any of the demarcations we have use to create hierarchies in humanity. This year, over the summer, we would like to explore how we can come face to face in these times, times equally strange and yet the same, to achieve these aims. How do we create spaces for us?

Therefore, in a series of short conversations online we will be exploring the role of African-centred knowledge in decolonial conversations, theorisations and action.

Ruha Benjamin admonishes us to ‘remember to imagine and craft the worlds you cannot live without, just as you dismantle the ones you cannot live within’. We hope to in these conversations imagine & craft spaces for African and African descended peoples to write ourselves into the light.

We will be in conversation with:
Dr Hadiza Kere Abdulrahman
Dr Ziba Nwako
Dr Furaha Asani
Christopher Ogunmodede
Professor Louise Owusu Kwarteng
